At the current stage, socially significant infectious diseases are considered one of the main threats to public health, as well as a significant professional burden for healthcare bodies and society as a whole. In Ukraine and worldwide, there has been a significant deterioration in the epidemiological situation regarding particularly dangerous infections due to political and economic instability, mass migration, military conflicts and redeployment of troops, new economic conditions with disruption of the stability of epizootic and epidemiological surveillance systems, and weakening of preventive measures. • The textbook presents modern concepts of the most common socially significant and particularly dangerous infectious diseases, including tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, AIDS, hepatitis B and C, coronavirus disease, etc. • It provides their general characteristics, etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, complications, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these diseases. • Special attention is paid to issues of biosafety, bioterrorism, and countering them. • Materials and recommendations of the WHO, data from domestic and foreign publications by leading specialists, and clinical protocols for medical care of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine are used. • The material is presented at a modern scientific level in accordance with current international recommendations, adapted to new curricula.
